Chocolate Lovers' Gala

We recently catered an annual event here at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center for Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County.

It was a live dinner auction so there was a plethora of really cool items to be auctioned off, as well as yours truly. I was to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, to go to their home and prepare dinner for eight. It is for a great and noble cause so I was delighted to donate myself for this event.

The theme was “Hakuna Matada, We Love Chocolata” - an African theme complete with balloon monkeys, African safari colors and décor. Everett City TV was there filming and it will be my next television segment to be aired very soon.

The DVS Committee asked me to come up with an African-themed menu to include kebabs. In addition to traditional shrimp and chicken kebabs, we prepared a bacon-wrapped potato kebab with saffron and golden raisin rice with a tomato citrus saffron sauce. The crowd went wild!

I was pretty nervous before being auctioned as I thought who would want to bid on me? Tenth row Katy Perry tickets at the Tacoma Dome had just gone for six hundred dollars so I reasoned to myself if I could get at least three hundred dollars I would be ecstatic. All of a sudden they announced my name and began playing my thirty second intro on two huge screens on either side of the stage where both the MC and the auctioneer were standing. Mark from City TV came running up to me with his camera light shining bright and after the intro stopped playing the bidding began. And guess how much I went for? Twelve hundred dollars! Wow! I almost passed out right then and there!

It was such a wonderful day being with my Team and with a great group of guests at a tremendous annual event. I really feel so privileged to work with this client and great organization to help make their event a success. Between the awesome cuisine I was asked to prepare, City TV filming all day, then being a part of the first live auction that I have ever attended - all I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you.

The Great Team!
